  • Terling Social were on the wrong end of a five goal demolition by the Carpenters Arms, who could be one of the teams to watch in this division.
  • William De Ferrers scored three goals in this opening league game but were unable to stop the OCs reserves hitting five themselves. 5-3 to the Old Chelmsfordians.
  • Woodham Radars reserves followed their first team in victory as they edged this five goal thriller with E2V Mannex. J. Wong, J.Waller and M. Freeman were the home team's goalscorers.

Pope & Smith Chelmsford Sunday League - Report for 28th August 2011

Charity Shield (at White Notley FC) - Highfield Victoria 4-0 Heybridge Social

  • In a repeat of the 2008/09 fixture, premier league champions Highfield Victoria took on league cup winners Heybridge Social. The game turned out to be a one-sided encounter as Heybridge were unable to field a full squad of players.

Highfield Vics took an early lead and pushed for a second goal but a resolute opposition defence and goalkeeper kept the score down and their only way of response was the odd counter-attack which they were unable to take advantage of. The championship favourites did eventually double their lead just before the break as all the possession they had paid off as they went in 2-0 up at the break.

The second-half turned out to be the same as they maintained their high tempo and grabbed two more goals to round off a dominant display to retain the trophy.
